| Matryoshka Russian Dolls – 3 in 1 set. The height of the main
doll is 7.5 cm (3’).
Small but very pretty set of Russian dolls in blue with a colourful
pattern of daisies and leaves. The main doll has big blue eyes with
long lashes and a small mouth with full lips.
The dolls are made from the Linden tree. The trees are cut in the
springtime when they are full of sap, then stripped and kept in
the open air for two years. Each doll’s shape or ‘blank’ is created
on a lathe with the smallest figurine, which will not be taken apart,
made first. Before the doll is painted it is coated with a starchy
glue to make the surface perfectly smooth, which also prevents the
paint from smudging. They are then hand painted, by a team or individually,
by highly skilled artisans, lacquered and then set to dry in special
drying rooms.
As all our Russian dolls are hand painted by artists there may be variations
and differences between those pictured on our website and the ones
you will receive. Every doll is unique as artists tend to add something
different to each and every doll set they paint. That’s why Russian
dolls are somehow a reflection of a mood of the artist painting
it in that particular moment. Russian dolls, as in life itself, may
have their own features, characters, colours and moods and can be
truly unique to you.
All our Russian dolls are hollow inside (apart from the last, smallest
doll of each set), they all open in half and fit inside each other.
Please note that there may be some bright spots on the pictures of some Russian dolls on our website, resulting from photo camera flash and
lights. The actual Russian dolls that you will receive will not
have any of those spots.
