The height of the main Russian doll in this 10 piece set is approximately
20 cm (8’), made from Linden tree with various paints used and protected
with a gloss varnish finish.
This is a very beautiful set of Russian dolls, a true piece of
art! The girls’ faces, which are situated at an angle to the veiwer,
are very beautiful and detailed. The girls in this set are wearing
traditional Russian headwear (kokoshnik) and beautiful red and blue
dresses with traditional patterns. In the center part of each doll
there is a miniature painting depicting different pictures of Russian
village life with green landscapes, horses pulling sledges, a girl
going to bring some water, a little boy in traditional Russian clothing
playing a flute and others. This set has a very authentic feel to
it and will be a wonderful present to yourself or a unique gift
to someone special in your life.

The set is made from the Linden tree; after the trees are cut they
are then kept in the open air for two years. Each doll’s shape or
‘blank’ is created on a lathe with the smallest figurine, which
will not be taken apart, made first. Before the doll is painted
it is coated with a starchy glue to make the surface perfectly smooth,
which also prevents the paint from smudging. They are then hand
painted, by a team or individually, by highly skilled artisans,
lacquered and then set to dry in special drying rooms.
All our Russian dolls are hollow inside (apart from the last, smallest
doll of each set), they all open in half and fit inside each other.
Please note that there may be some bright spots on the pictures of some Russian dolls on our website, resulting from photo camera flash and
lights. The actual Russian dolls that you will receive will not
