These are extremely high quality Russian doll figurines, which have been lovingly
created and hand painted by some of Russias most talented artists.
Their beauty and mesmerising smiles always leave a lasting impression
on those they meet. We have two versions of this doll; one is wearing
the traditional Russian headwear known as a Kokoshnik, while the
second one is a water carrying doll. Both are available in different
colours, so please scroll down to view the entire range.
There was a lot of work and a number of high skilled techniques
going into making these beautiful Russian dolls. After preparing
and polishing the mould, made of Linden tree, pyrography was applied
to it. Pyrography is the art of decorating wood or other materials
with burn marks resulting from the controlled application of a heated
object such as a poker. It is also known as “pokerwork” or “wood
burning”. Pyrography means "writing with fire" and is
the traditional art of using a heated tip or wire to burn or scorch
designs onto natural materials such as wood or leather. |
